Our portraits are on display at galleries, bridal shops, children's specialty stores, doctors' offices, veterinary clinics, and other businesses throughout the town of Brainerd, Minnesota and surrounding communities. With over 465 lakes clustered near scenic forests, the Brainerd Lakes area provides an array of stunning, natural backdrops and settings for all kinds of photography, including family portraits and special occasions such as family reunions and weddings. Brainerd's diverse, vibrant community reflects the people who come from all over the world to spend their summers and often their entire lives in this gorgeous corner of the Upper Midwest.
I typically use a number of cameras for the same event, including several types of 16-32 megapixel cameras that are setup for different types of shots. This enables me to capture those special visual moments as they happen. By saving pictures in a raw format allows our graphic artists more creativity and flexibility when they process the files in our studio. Your images are color corrected and enhanced for the best color balance and saturation.
My passion for photography spans more than twenty years. It began in the sixth grade when I went on a trip from Bovey, MN (my hometown) to the Smithsonian Institute in Washington D.C. with my grandmother. After giving me a Kodak 110 camera, she told me to take as many pictures as I would like. She was very surprised when I came back with over thirty rolls of pictures. She processed all the pictures anyway and I eagerly shared them with my family and friends. My career was born in that moment. From that time onward, photography has been a creative, fascinating way to interact with and construct the world.
After graduating from high school, I took advantage of a fine vocational program in Staples, MN where I studied every aspect of photography, including optics, film processing and dark room techniques. As a member of the MPPA (Minnesota Professional Photographers Association) and PPA (Professional Photographers of America), I keep current with the latest developments in technique and technology. The introduction and refinement of digital cameras have revolutionized many aspects of photography. Nonetheless, I retain my faith in the core principles of design, framing the shot and understanding my subject.
